Aleksandar Katai has been named the best player of the Mozzart Bet Serbian SuperLiga for the 2025/26 season. The experienced Crvena zvezda attacker received the prestigious individual award after an outstanding campaign in which he was one of the key figures in his team’s success.
Coaches and captains from all 16 SuperLiga clubs took part in the voting. Katai won by a landslide, receiving 27 votes out of a possible 30, as representatives were not allowed to vote for players from their own clubs.
The 35-year-old finished the season as the league’s top scorer with 24 goals. His achievement is even more impressive because he is not a classic centre-forward, but usually plays as an attacking midfielder or winger. Despite his age, Katai once again proved that he remains one of the most dominant players in Serbian football.
It was also a highly successful season for him at club level. With Crvena zvezda, Katai won the domestic double — the Serbian championship and the Serbian Cup — and also played in the knockout stage of the Europa League. His goals, assists and overall influence on the team’s attacking play were among the main reasons why Zvezda ended the season with two trophies.
Other players also received votes in the poll, including Katai’s teammates Rade Krunić and Vasilije Kostov, as well as Železničar Pančevo players Silvester Jasper and Zoran Popović. However, Katai’s advantage was overwhelming, underlining the respect he earned across the league during the season.
With this award, Katai joins the list of recent winners of the SuperLiga best player prize, following Adem Ljajić, In-beom Hwang and Saša Jovanović.
The official awards ceremony for the best individuals of the Mozzart Bet Serbian SuperLiga was held in Belgrade, where Katai’s recognition confirmed what the season had already shown on the pitch: his class, experience and importance to Crvena zvezda remain exceptional.
